Advanced features
Snapshots
Before making changes on your cloud VPS server, you can create a snapshot. If something goes wrong, you can roll back to a stable state in just a few clicks. This feature is included in the server price.
Web Console
Access your virtual server's console directly from the browser, without plugins, even from a mobile device. With the web console you can install an OS or manage the server if RDP/SSH access is unavailable.
Virtual Private Networks
Combine VPS servers into private networks to build high-availability clusters. By default, each server is isolated, but we provide the option to unite them into an L2 network, even across different XServer locations.
Automatic Backups
Virtual servers are backed up automatically. To restore, simply choose a date and click the button. Daily backups are also available for just $5 per month — reliable protection for your data and services.

VPS Hosting in Germany
Frankfurt is, without exaggeration, the heart of the European internet. This is where the backbones of the largest operators converge, where DE-CIX operates, and where latency to most of Western and Central Europe is measured in single-digit milliseconds. Virtual servers here run on the same VMware vSphere platform as the rest of our locations: a new server deploys within minutes, and resources can be adjusted without moving to different hardware.
The German location is a universal choice for projects with a European audience: websites and online stores, SaaS platforms, CRM and ERP systems, API services, VPN nodes, development environments, and corporate applications.
Why Choose a VPS in Germany
First, the network. Frankfurt sits right next to DE-CIX, the largest internet exchange point in Europe. Routes to operators in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, and Switzerland stay short and predictable, and service response times remain consistently fast across the region. If your project's audience is spread across Europe and you need a single location with even latency in every direction, Frankfurt is the obvious candidate.
Second, jurisdiction. Germany is part of the EU, so hosting here suits projects that require personal data to be stored and processed under GDPR. For companies working with European clients, this is often not a preference but a hard requirement — and a German VPS satisfies it without extra paperwork.
And then there's cloud flexibility: vCPU, RAM, and disk space can be scaled on demand, with no hardware procurement or lengthy migrations. Handy during seasonal peaks, new service launches, or active development — dev/test environments grow along with the project.
VMware Cloud Platform
As in our other locations, the cloud in Frankfurt is built on VMware vSphere — an enterprise virtualization platform, not a free hypervisor. The difference shows in critical moments: if a physical node fails, the HA cluster automatically restarts virtual machines on healthy servers, and planned maintenance is handled via live migration — the VPS moves between nodes without service interruption.
The storage layer is built on SSD and NVMe: fast OS boot times, responsive databases, smooth handling of CI/CD and container environments. There's enough headroom not just for standard web hosting, but also for high-traffic web projects, business applications, and multi-tenant SaaS services.
About the Telehouse Frankfurt Data Center
Servers are housed in the Telehouse Frankfurt data center, a TIER III+ facility and one of Germany's best-known hosting sites. Power, cooling, and network infrastructure are redundant, the facility is monitored around the clock, and physical access is controlled at multiple levels with video surveillance.
The site's location is an advantage in its own right: proximity to Frankfurt's key telecom hubs simplifies circuit provisioning and adds flexibility in route selection. For services sensitive to network quality, this is one of the best spots in Europe.
XServer Cloud has been in business since 2007, and Frankfurt is one of the key locations in our network. If your project needs a platform at Europe's main internet hub — with even latency across the region and GDPR compliance — spin up a VPS in Frankfurt and see for yourself.
VPS with Backups
A backup is the kind of thing you think about in two situations: when you have one, and when you don't. A failed update, a script error, a hack through a vulnerable plugin, an accidentally deleted database — without a backup, any of these scenarios means hours or days of recovery, and sometimes irreversible data loss. With the backup option from XServer Cloud, it works differently: pick the copy you need, click "Restore" — and within minutes the server is running exactly as it was when the copy was made.
The entire server is backed up: operating system, settings, databases, files — including attached HDD storage. There's nothing to configure, no folders to select, no scripts to write: enable the option, and copies are created on their own, automatically, every day.
How Backup Retention Works
We use a two-tier scheme that covers both recent and older problems:
- Daily backups — the last 7 days are kept. These cover the typical situations: "it worked yesterday" is solved by rolling back to yesterday.
- Weekly backups — the last 4 weeks are kept. These save you when a problem isn't discovered right away: say, a hack or data corruption happened two weeks ago, and you only noticed today.
In total, at any moment you have 11 restore points reaching up to 28 days back. Backups are created automatically at the virtualization platform level — no agents inside your OS, no impact on server performance — and stored separately from the VPS, so they remain available even if something happens to the server itself.
Copies in Another Location: Disaster Protection
Keeping backups next to the server is only half the job: such a copy won't help in a serious facility-level incident. So we go further and apply cross-location replication: backup copies are additionally transferred to another of our data centers, in a different country. Even in the least likely scenario — an entire location going offline — your data stays intact and recoverable. This is a level of disaster resilience that usually only large companies with their own infrastructure build for themselves — with us, it's included in the backup option.
Who Really Needs This
- Online stores and commercial websites — orders, customers, payments: an hour of downtime costs money, and losing the order database costs your reputation.
- Projects with databases — CRM, accounting systems, portals: data accumulated over months deserves protection.
- CMS-based websites — WordPress and its plugins are a frequent target of attacks; rolling back to a pre-hack copy brings back a clean site in minutes.
- Anyone who updates and experiments — OS upgrades, database migrations, new configs: with a backup, no change is risky anymore.
- Teams — the more people with server access, the higher the chance of human error. That's statistics, not pessimism.
Backups vs Snapshots: What's the Difference
Your control panel also offers instant state snapshots — they're handy as insurance during a specific operation: take a snapshot, update the software, confirm everything works, delete the snapshot. But a snapshot is stored together with the virtual machine and doesn't replace a proper backup. Backups are independent copies with a schedule and retention depth, stored away from the server. The right strategy is to use both: snapshots for maneuvers, backups for peace of mind.
When to Consider Other Configurations
The backup option can be added to any VPS — it pairs with basic configurations, VPS for websites, and data storage alike. If you need to manage backups of other servers yourself — for example, collecting copies from several machines in one place — take a look at a VPS for data storage in the role of a backup target.
Enable Backups — and Forget About Them
Add the backup option when ordering your server, or at any point later. From then on, everything happens automatically: copies are created daily, kept for up to 28 days, and a restore takes a few minutes and one click. XServer Cloud — data protected, nerves intact.
