Technical Features of Storage Servers
Data storage servers are equipped with multiple drives — from 4–8 and up, depending on chassis and configuration. To improve redundancy and performance, they are combined into RAID arrays of various levels (RAID 5, 6, 10, 50, etc.), providing a balance between speed, reliability, and efficient disk space usage.
Depending on requirements, a combination of SSD + HDD can be used — for example, SSDs for caching and metadata, and HDDs for the main data array. To speed up access and simplify management, data can be stored on ZFS or Btrfs file systems with integrity verification and instant snapshots.
